Firefighter Survival Training
Members of the Abington Township Fire Department participated this month in a firefighter survival class through Bucks County Community College. Firefighters from Mckinley, Weldon, Roslyn, and Rockledge joined in as well.
The 16-hour course emphasized the importance and taught the process of how firefighters should act in worst case scenarios. Last minute breathing methods were taught with Abington’s air packs. Various techniques of exit were also practiced, such as window roll-out, window drop-off, rope bailout, and more, at Abington’s training facilities. These along with the lecture portion of the class will leave Abington firefighters better prepared to face the variety of challenges that could come our way.
