Crews Respond to Pottstown, PA for Mutual Aid
In the early morning hours of March 19th, crews in Pottstown PA were dispatched to an underground fire and explosion at the corner of High and Hanover Streets. With the extended operations requiring evacuation, fire extinguishment, and hazardous gas monitoring, Pottstown reached out across the county for additional assistance.
Abington Fire Company sent a crew of 5 on Squad 100 on the 1 hour journey west to assist in the operations. Our crew remained on scene for several hours assisting in metering and hazard mitigation throughout dozens of buildings.
While this is an unusually long distance request, it shows the commitment that our crews have to protect not only our community, but municipalities throughout the county and area when called up.
